Howdy Overflow Network visitors!
You may or may not have noticed, but, a LOT of things hapenned in the past months. Let’s have a look, shall we?
Yet again, OFN has switched server (no worries, we won’t switch again anytime soon). Earlier this month, there was a problem with Apache which caused all websites to have very slow loading times, but, this was fixed. Also, mod_proxy and mod_rewrite were causing some issues on some websites (particulary blogs and their permalinks), but, this issue has also been resolved. Care to know the specs for the new server? Here they are!
| CPU Power |
2800 MHz |
| Dedicated Memory |

| RAID Protected Storage |

- Website Statistics
I took the liberty to add a traffic monitoring software to the websites (Quantcast). There, this can give everyone a good idea on how Overflow Network is doing as a whole (and of course, check particular websites).
- New websites
A bunch of new websites were made available too! Check them out!
The D-Pad IRC Network (http://www.d-pad.org/)
The D-Pad IRC Network is an audio and video web based flash IRC chat provider. Simply pick a channel, register it, and embed the chat client on your website! La Reine De Coeur (http://www.lareinedecoeur.com/)
Yet another personal blog! Get immersed in Wonderland as you follow La Reine De Coeur (The Queen of Hearts) through her multiple everyday life events. This blog is bilingual, meaning, there are articles in both French AND English.

Follow a little mushroom on a big adventure of taking pictures of himself all over the world!
Of course, some websites are still under construction, but, we’ll try to get everything up and running soon. Stay tuned for future updates.
The transfer to the new Virtual Private Server is now officially over! If you didn’t notice any change, then, good! You’re not supposed to. I apologize if there was any downtime or loss of data (Sorry guys at RPDimension.net, I should have disabled your site beforehand!) With the new VPS, I can’t host game servers nor IRC servers. However, I’ll be able to host a Java server and deliver Java Server Pages on all websites.
I’ll keep you guys updated with future development. Until next time.
In the next few days, some Overflow Network services will be down for a short period of time. We’ll be switching all of our content to a brand new VPS (Virtual Private Server) in order to offer more services in the near future (Yay). For example, the new magazine that will replace the D-Pad will be running using Tomcat and Java Server Pages (JSP). There is also a slight chance of the IRC Server (IRCOverflow) to make a comeback, but, this time, it would be available for all current hosted websites.
I’m also checking if it’s possible to have streaming services for a possible Audio/Video chatroom. I’ll post more information on this soon.
Last but not least, there’s also a slight possibility that small game servers (Team Fortress 2, Kaillera, …) may be back up. It all depends on how much RAM I have left after installing basic services. More information on this later.
I wish all of you a great day, and thanks for using the Overflow Network services!
How was everyone’s past few months? It sure has been wild here for us in the Overflow Network team composed uniquely of me, Gabriel.
Here’s what’s new since the last post:
- Mirukiga
Mirukiga, a comic made by a good friend of mine, Turtle-Ninja, is now online. Make sure to go check his comic out at mirukiga.com!
- New Photoblog
A friend of mine needed a blog to post her photos on. I heard her photos are really amazing, so, make sure to check them out at christine-turcotte.com when she starts uploading them! I’m warning you, though: The website is in french!
If it seems like this isn’t much since the last update, well, you’re entirely right. It isn’t. You must understand that Overflow Network is not my top priority in life, but, I’ll try to spend more time on it in 2010. New Year Resolution? Maybe…
There’s a couple of new things to look for in 2010.
The most important would be the replacement of the D-Pad with a whole new website. This new website will be an interactive web magazine, and, I’m pretty excited about it since it will be written from scratch! Secondly, you can expect some updates on the Nintendo WiFi Alliance (FINALLY) later this month. I also have a few other small projects such as a new blog and perhaps 2 forums, so, we’ll be seeing those later this year.
As always, feel free to contact me if you have project ideas or if you simply want to give some feedback.
After many months of hard work, I’m pleased to announce the grand opening (or should I say “reopening”) of the Overflow Network. Once known as “Nexyt Network”, Overflow Network (aka “ON” or “OFN”) does a wonderful job at uniting websites together and making them feel proud to be part of a network of hardworking people. The main goal of the Overflow Network isn’t profit: Having fun, getting new experiences, and pleasing people is. You may have noticed the OFN Bar at the top of your website. With this simple tool, you can navigate through all the active OFN websites with only a couple of clicks!
Now for some basic updates on some websites…
Nintendo WiFi Alliance
This is the next website we get to work on. It’s been unavailable for a couple of months, but, it will soon be it’s time to shine. Remember to check it out often if you’re into Nintendo clans and online gaming!
D-Pad
Newly revamped, the D-Pad is a small tight-knit community of close friends. Drop by to say hi on our simple Twitter-like interface. The next step will be to find a purpose for the site. Should the site attract gamers? People that like anime? Why are we using a Twitter interface? So many questions, so few answers! If you have an idea, feel free to tell me about it.
Mirukiga, Kritzkrieg and Pokémon Purple
Those websites will be developed (in that order) after the launch of the Nintendo WiFi Alliance. Of course, we’ll keep you updated on their availability.
We hope you have a wonderful time on the Internet visiting our vast variety of websites. As always, if you have a website idea or if you want to develop a website on the Overflow Network, feel free to contact us!
